1. Christianity is what has become mere Churchianity.

  • Christianity is what has been destroyed by Churchians.
  • Churchianity is when you try to be good instead of worshiping God as the only good.

“And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.” —Matthew 19:17

“And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.” —Mark 10:18

“And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.” —Luke 18:19

2. Churchianity is when you do good for a church instead of for people.

  • Churchianity is when you work to make the teachings of Christ of no effect.

“And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.” —Matthew 15:6

“Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.” —Mark 7:13

3. Christianity is what has not existed since the last Apostle was murdered.

  • Churchianity is when Christians act so unchristian that nonbelievers despise Christianity.

“Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God? For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.” —Romans 2:23-24

“And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.” —II Peter 2:2

4. Churchianity is when you have license to be unchristian.

  • Churchianity is when you make the teachings of Christ to have no meaning, no relevance, no power, to be just sentimental.

“Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?” —Matthew 23:19

“He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” —I John 2:4

5. Christianity has become nothing more than Churchianity: the service of man’s desires not God’s goals.

  • Churchianity is when you identify with your pretty images of Christ as the means of bolstering your self-esteem when He is not images.

“For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.” —Isaiah 53:2

6. Churchianity is when you are free not to follow the teachings of Christ because you go to church instead.

7. Churchianity is when you belong to a church so you don’t have to act like a Christian.

  • Churchianity is when you go to church to pray in a public show instead of praying in secret.

“And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” —Matthew 6:5-6

8. Churchianity is when you tithe to some church on Sunday so you don’t have to act like a Christian on Monday.

“Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.” —Matthew 6:1-4

9. Churchianity is when you don’t think you have to be any better than your minister or priest.

“For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.” —Matthew 5:20

10. Churchianity is when you pay some church for the right to call yourself a Christian.

  • Churchianity is when you think just because you call God your Lord you will go to heaven.

“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” —Matthew 7:21-23

“Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” —II Timothy 2:22

“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.” —James 2:19

12. Churchianity is when you pay some church to justify your soul.

  • Churchianity is when you think you can be like an adult before God rather than like a child before God.

13. Churchianity is when you tithe to excuse your conscience.

  • Churchianity is when you think to be rich shows that God has chosen you.

“It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.” —Mark 10:25

14. Churchianity is when you teach bondage to the law and theology instead of the liberty of Christ.

“And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:” —Galatians 2:4

“But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” —James 1:25

15. Churchianity is when you attend church to cover your conscience.

“Woe unto you, lawyers! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.” —Luke 11:52

17. Churchianity is when you still purchase indulgences only now you call it tithing.

  • Churchianity is when you lie and claim to be born of the Spirit yet still act like you are born of Sin, of flesh.

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” —John 3:5-6

“Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” —I John 3:9

20. Churchianity is when you use your pathetic images of Christ to claim a personal relationship with Him.

  • Churchianity is when you worship mammon(money, success, status, worldly values) and say you are worshiping God.

“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” —Matthew 6:24

“No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” —Luke 16:13

21. Churchianity is when you use Christ for your own self-esteem.

  • Churchianity is when the place you are least likely to find Christians to fellowship with is a place called a church.

“Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.” —Romans 16:17

22. Churchianity is when you serve your own self-esteem, your own ego, and claim that is serving God.

“He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.” —Matthew 10:39

“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.” —James 2:19

“Christians have given up one of the three primary virtues, hope, for claims of salvation. Hope is the middle ground between doubt and pride (self-righteousness).” —Kevin Everett FitzMaurice

25. Churchianity is when you perform only token good works.

“Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?” —Proverbs 20:6

26. Churchianity is when you sin and lie and claim to be born of God.

“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” —I John 3:8-9

27. Churchianity is when you think you are superior to others who are not like yourself in petty ways.

“And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;” —Acts 17:26

28. Churchianity is when you are a Pharisee who claims others are Pharisees.

“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because ye build the tombs of the prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous, And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.” —Matthew 23:29-31

29. Churchianity is the greatest evil on the earth as it perverts true Christianity into ego worship.

  • Churchianity is when you make up myths instead of following the teachings of the Bible. For instance, Churchianity teaches that Satan appears as a monster.

“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” —II Corinthians 11:13-14

30. Churchianity is when you hide the fact the workers of Satan are not criminals but ministers, priests, Rabbis, theologians, etc.

“For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” —II Corinthians 11:13-15

31. Churchianity is when you believe it is not possible to follow the teachings of Christ.

  • Churchianity is when you make up myths instead of following the teachings of the Bible. For instance, Churchianity teaches that Satan was not evil from the beginning.

“He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” —I John 3:8

32. Churchianity is when you deny Christ by saying it is not possible not to sin.

“For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.” —II Peter 2:20

33. Churchianity is when you believe that God was not smart enough to say what He meant.

“Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” —Proverbs 30:6

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” —2 Timothy 3:16–17

“For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:” —Revelation 22:18

34. Churchianity is when you believe God did not have the integrity to mean what He said.

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” —John 14:26

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” —2 Timothy 3:16–17

“But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.” —1 John 2:27

35. Churchianity is when claim to be born again when you are still the same person.

  • Churchianity is when you deny the power of God by claiming that a mere attitude or personality adjustment is being born again.

36. Churchianity is when you trust other’s opinions about what Christ said more than what Christ said.

“But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.” —I John 2:27

37. Churchianity is when you consider Christ’s teachings to be either mere sentimentality or relevant only for times past.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” —II Timothy 3:16

38. Churchianity is when you believe that Christ did not free us from sin.

“Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.” —Romans 6:18

39. Churchianity is a mere cloak, a covering for sin.

  • Churchianity is when you deny Christ’s call to perfection.

“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” —Matthew 5:48

40. Churchianity is when you justify sin.

  • Churchianity is when you convince people to go to church by claiming the non-believers there are believers.

“Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.” —II John 1:9-11

41. Churchianity is when you justify not following Christ.

  • Churchianity is when you hire professional liars worse than lawyers and even journalists and call them theologians.

“But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.” —Isaiah 28:13

42. Christianity is what has been replaced by Churchianity.

  • Churchianity is when you promote the appearance of good and defend the practice of sin. See Matthew 23:27 and John 7:24.

“Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.” —Matthew 23:27

43. Churchianity is when you rationalize materialism by tithing.

  • Churchianity is when you mouth love but do not practice love.

“For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.” —II Corinthians 5:12

“My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” —I John 3:18

44. Churchianity is when the approval of men is what counts.

  • Churchianity is when you are good only to some.

“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” —Matthew 5:44-45

45. Churchianity is when appearances are everything.

“Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.” —John 7:24

“For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.” —II Corinthians 5:12

“Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? if any man trust to himself that he is Christ’s, let him of himself think this again, that, as he is Christ’s, even so are we Christ’s.” —II Corinthians 10:7

46. Churchianity is when you think you are better than others who are not Christian.

“Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.” —Isaiah 65:5

“And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:” —Luke 18:9

“For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.” —Romans 10:3

47. Churchianity is when you agree to keep some socially acceptable sins and to get rid of some socially unacceptable sins.

  • Churchianity is when you claim that because you listen to ministers or priests on Sunday and other days, that justifies you.

“For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.” —Romans 2:13

48. Christianity is what occurs least often in church.

  • Churchianity is when you claim to have the mind of Christ but all that you have is your mental and emotional idols.

“For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.” —I Corinthians 2:16

49. Churchianity is when you go to church instead of following the teachings of Christ.

  • Churchianity is when you are free to hate any and to forget to love all.

“And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:” —I Thessalonians 3:12

“He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” —I John 4:8

50. Churchianity is when you go to church, so you don’t have to follow the teachings of Christ.

  • Churchianity is when you take the teachings of Christ to be sentimental, suggestions, meant only for someone else, meant only for the people of His time, or to be anything but His commandments for you.

“For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.” —Romans 2:10

“He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” —I John 2:4

“They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.” —Titus 1:16

51. Churchianity is when the so-called followers of Christ are the first and foremost critics of the teachings of Christ.

  • Churchianity is when you can make the Bible say whatever you want it to say even though it is the world’s clearest and most direct religious book.

“He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,” —I Timothy 6:4

“But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.” —II Timothy 2:23

“Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.” —II Peter 1:20

52. Churchianity is when the so-called believers of Christ are the main proponents of replacing the teachings of Christ with the teachings of man.

“Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only? If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. ” —I Corinthians 14:34-37

53. Churchianity is when you try to be good when you cannot be good.

“For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.” —Romans 7:18

54. Churchianity is when you claim some few scriptures to be factual to differentiate your group from other Christian groups who claim some other few scriptures to promote as factual.

  • Churchianity is when you seek to be of God through theworksof knowing and doing what a Christian is supposed to know and do such as tithing, church attendance, church fellowship, believing, saying you are Christian, proselytizing, and following other teachings of your church.

“Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” —Galatians 2:16

“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;” —Titus 3:5

55. Churchianity is what man makes of God’s Word—a total corruption and dissolution. And when that judgment is complete, a people who live God’s Word will arise.

  • Churchianity is when it is your job to make the Bible and its teachings look foolish.

56. Churchianity is when you believe on yourself, your ego, your self-concepts, or your personality when things get either very positive or negative.

“And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.” —John 6:40

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” —John 6:47

57. Churchianity is when the current Pharisees sell you the following: “Have we got a deal for you! We’ll make you look like a good Christian, and you won’t even have to act like one!”

  • Churchianity is when you mouth belief in Christ but follow the world with your heart.

“Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:” —Isaiah 29:13

“This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.” —Matthew 15:8

“He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.” —Mark 7:6
