Ego Is Experienced as Expecting
- Ego will help you to recognize, remove, and replace your ego: a.k.a. self-esteem.
“To be poured into without becoming full, and to pour out without becoming empty, without knowing how this is brought about–this is the case of ‘Containing the Light’.” —Chung Tzu
- Read for diagrams and maps of how human communication works.
Ego Expecting or Expectating
- The function or process of ego is best analyzed or understood as expecting.
- Expecting or Expectating is the mental action of expecting something in the distant or near future.
- Ego expects to know better, to do better, and to be better than either oneself or other people.
- When ego is present, it is expecting to wind up knowing, doing, and being better than what anyone else does or says.
Workarounds
- There are times when you cannot imagine doing someone’s skill or task because you don’t have it or never will have it.
- Ego gets around this by knowing, doing, and being better as that person while imagining them doing their skill or task in your superior way.
3 Errors of Attention or Focus
- Let anything that comes into your vessel take your focus.
- Try to change or control anything bad that enters into being something better or good.
- After failing to change or control some thought (or focus), then suppress both it and the failure to change it.
4 Solutions for Attention
- Maintain a focus only on virtue while still allowing whatever comes into the vessel to come.
- Have faith, hope, and charity in the Light to process whatever comes into the vessel.
- Maintain your choice and right to focus on virtue and the Light at all times despite events or temptations.
- Refocus to what you want to focus on, not fight what you do not want to focus on.
THREE EXAMPLES
1. Need to know or understand something.
- Failure: You turn your focus on needing to know something to self-talk, to thinking; therefore, you fail to know or understand because thinking cannot know.
- Success: You turn your focus on needing to know something to Energy.
- You, as your vessel, receive the knowing that you desire.
2. Need to do or complete something.
- Failure: You turn your focus on needing to do something to self-talk, to thinking; therefore, you fail to do because thinking cannot do.
- Success: You turn your focus on doing something to Energy.
- You, as your vessel, receive the doing that you desire.
3. Need to be or to be aware of self.
- Failure: You turn your focus on needing to be to self-talk, to thinking; therefore, you fail to be because thinking can only give you something to pretend to be such as a concept or an image.
- Success: You turn your focus on needing to be to Energy.
- You, as your vessel, receive the awareness that you are an alive being: a living container, host, vessel.
