Doing, Rest, and Ego: Doing Vs. Nondoing

“Live calmly. The time will come when the flowers bloom by themselves.” —Buddhist saying

1. PROBLEM OF DOING

  • I think I can do with my mind, heart, or soul.
  • I try to do with my mind, heart, or soul.

2. SOLUTION OF WAITING

  • My only right doing is to wait on God’s doing.
  • My only right doing is to trust God’s doing.
  • My only right doing is to have faith in God’s doing.
  • My only right doing is to rely on God’s doing.
  • My only right doing is to host God’s doing.
  • My only right doing is to serve God’s doing.
  • Psychological doing is the problem and psychological hosting is the solution.

3. THREE THINGS I CAN DO

1. I can host. I can magnify signals from other sources.

2. I can identify the self as the host. I can be aware of the self as the vessel.

3. I can pay attention to what I host. I can be aware of what is in me.

4. MORE ON DOING

  • The only thing to do psychologically is nothing.
  • To do nothing psychologically is to be your self.
  • Doing nothing psychologically, you are free again.
  • While there is much to do physically, there is only nothing to do psychologically.
  • Doing nothing is not hard, but it is not doing anything else.
