5 Steps to the Solution of Personal Problems

5 Steps to Overcoming with Explanations

  • If you reach your bottom where you are helpless over the problem and overcoming the problem seems hopeless, then these five steps can work for you.
  • Those familiar with the 12 Steps of AA will notice similarities.

1. Acknowledge, admit, and confess that you have a problem.

  • The first step to solving any problem is to recognize the existence of the problem.

2. Acknowledge, admit, and confess that you are powerless over the problem.

  • The first step to experimenting with a new solution to a problem is to admit that what you are currently doing is not working.

3. Believe God can and will overcome the problem for you.

  • If you cannot solve a problem, then you need to find someone who can.

4. Turn the problem over to God (surrender) by quitting all your attempts to try to change or control the problem.

  • When you give the problem to someone else to solve, you must stop trying to solve it yourself.

5. Redirect all new efforts to try to change or control the problem to waiting on God to solve the problem for you.

  • When you find yourself trying to change or control the problem again, you switch back to your new commitment to trust in God to solve your problem.
