How Self-Control Works

What is the order of control of your mind?

New Information

  • The above table provides the steps that we take to perform an action.
  • Information on this process can be found in the book Feeling-Intention Therapy.
  • Test it for yourself and see how wrong people are that we are rational or thinking creatures.
  • We are driven by doubled sensations and our feelings about those sensations.

Caveat About Order of Control

  • The single most important thing in life is energy because energy is life.
  • The second most important thing in life is sensations because sensations are proof of life.
  • However, the human order for self-control does follow the above model starting with doubled sensations and not with energy or pure sensations.

  • Read and master the life skill of acceptance using the best combination of CBT, REBT, & Stoicism.

How Self-Control Gets Distorted & Corrupted

How does control of your mind get corrupted?

Some of the Processes that Control What Sensations Get Added

  • Scripts, life stories, self-programming, and life expectations can cover, force, start, or stop matched sensations.
  • Assumptions, beliefs, doctrines, ideologies, and theories can cover, force, start, or stop matched sensations.
  • Opinions, outlooks, perspectives, and viewpoints can cover, force, start, or stop matched sensations.
  • The needs of the ego not to look bad and to look good often override all other considerations.
  • We would want each experience to be fresh and new so our matched sensations are clear and true, but survival demands we use memory, and memory demands bias and prejudice.
  • It can take a lot of effort to look with a clear and clean mind at something old or new.
  • It is easy to think that we already know it (have matched sensations about it).
