Broad Story Strategy
- Here is a broad strategy we use to keep the worst question from being about ourselves.
- We engage in a story about our body, life, others, society, or the world to focus the worst question on one of them instead of on ourselves, our identity.
- The purpose of the stories is to offer semantic objects of others to focus the worst question on.
- This does keep the worst question from focusing on semantic objects of ourselves.
Story Conditioning
- We are conditioned into some stories.
- If you grew up when the New York Times was a serious journalistic source, then you are prone to the lying fake source that the New York Times has become.
- Even when you know they are lying, your drive for story will still want to believe them because of past stories from them that you believed.
- Stories want to continue despite the evidence.
- Stories want to be updated despite experience.
- Stories take on a life of their own.
Story Continuity
- We want stories to continue out of pride in knowing them.
- We want stories to keep becoming to keep our pride in knowing them.
- We collect and embellish stories and then fight to give them up in the face of contrary evidence.
- Facts don’t matter compared to the demands to keep stories going; hence, people prefer ignorance to giving up one of their precious stories.
Explanations for Failure
- Story got em.
- They were more concerned with the story about it than it.
- They couldn’t let go of a story that no longer applied.
Must Not Stories
- Thinking you must not have a story that you are having will feed and continue that story.
Obsessions Can Be Understood As Ego Payoffs
- You want to know that you don’t know.
- You want to know that you do know.
- You want to keep repeating these two forms of pride (ego payoffs and high self-esteem).
3D: Daily Dose of Discernment: 2024
Self-Stories Defeat Yourself: 12-02-2024
- Self-stories defeat you by dividing your attention and energy, so you rarely respond holistically.
- Self-stories defeat you by making you self-centered and unable to make direct and genuine contact with God and people.
- Self-stories defeat you by wasting your attention, time, and energy on themselves instead of wisely spending them on your goals.
- Self-stories defeat you by keeping you focused on what is not important (self-constructions) instead of what is important (results testing, problem-solving).
- Self-stories defeat you by keeping you out of life and living in your virtual-reality world of desires, expectations, desires, false predictions, and make-believe conflicts.
